What this site is

VOA3R is an independent editorial portal covering agriculture and aquaculture technology - sensors and monitoring, closed and recirculating systems, soilless and controlled-environment growing, and access to the research literature that underpins all of it.

It is published by a commercial operator, not by a research institution, a public body or an industry association. It carries no institutional endorsement and speaks for nobody but itself.

What this site is not

Between 2010 and 2013 this domain belonged to a European research project of the same name, working on open access to agricultural and aquaculture research. That project concluded, its consortium dissolved, and the domain was subsequently acquired by an unrelated owner.

This site is not a continuation of that project, is not connected to its former partner institutions, and is not endorsed by them or by the European Commission. Because old citations still point here, the history is documented factually in the project archive rather than quietly redirected away.

This site also does not provide advice on individual holdings, does not sell or install equipment, and does not carry out testing of its own. Where a number appears, it comes from published work, and the route to checking it is described.

How the content is produced

Articles are researched from published agricultural and aquaculture literature, much of it openly available through the repositories described in theopen science section, together with extension and technical material from public research institutes.

Content is compiled and edited with the assistance of AI language models and reviewed before publication. It is not presented as the work of named individual experts, and no author biographies, credentials or claims of field experience appear anywhere on this site - inventing those would be straightforwardly dishonest, and it is a common enough practice in this sector to be worth stating plainly.

Every page carries the date it was last reviewed. Guides covering fast-moving equipment categories are revisited more often than those covering settled principles.

The editorial standard applied

• Quantitative claims are described with enough context to be checked - crop, conditions, comparison - or they are not stated as facts.
• The situations in which a technology does not pay are set out alongside those in which it does.
• Where evidence is thin, contested or drawn from small trials, that is said rather than smoothed over.
• Sensor and equipment comparisons are organised by class and function rather than by brand, so that the reasoning survives a product being discontinued.

How this site is funded

By advertising and affiliate commission. Some links to retailers and software providers are affiliate links: if a purchase follows, this site may receive a commission. That never changes the price paid and never determines what is recommended.

At the time of writing, no affiliate programmes are active and no product links appear anywhere on the site. When they are added they will be marked as such, and the analysis in the guides will not be adjusted to accommodate them. Comparison sections that carry no partner link say so explicitly rather than leaving the impression that a link is missing by accident.

Corrections

Errors are worth reporting and will be fixed. If something here is wrong, out of date, or overstated, write to contact@voa3r.eu or use the contact form. Pointing at the specific claim and, where possible, a source makes it considerably faster to act on.

Corrections to substantive factual claims are made directly on the page, and the review date is updated.
